Nicholas V. Tosques, 89

Nicholas V. Tosques, 89, of Millville, Del., died Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., and raised in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Nicholas A. Tosques and Grace (Moser) Tosques.

Tosques retired as a plate printer for the Bureau of Engraving & Printing. He was a member of VFW Mason Dixon Post 7234, American Legion Post 28, Disabled American Veterans and American Ex-Prisoners of War. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War and was a POW for 28 months.

Tosques was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Tosques, in 2001. He is survived by three daughters, Vicki A. Tosques of Gaithersburg, Md., Gerri Peter and her husband, Robert Peter IV, also of Gaithersburg, and Kristine G. Warner and her husband, John, of Olney, Md.; a sister, Virginia Backora of Albrightsville, Pa.; and two grandsons, Brendan and Kyle Warner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday Sept. 8, 2017, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, Del., where friends may call one hour beforehand. Burial with honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans; P.O. Box 14301; Cincinnati, OH 45250.
