Phyllis A. Waidner, 78, of Bethany Beach, Del., formerly of Perry Hall, Md., passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Atlantic Shores Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Millsboro, Del. Waidner was born in Baltimore, Md., on Dec.11, 1937, daughter of the late Phillip and Evelyn (Dubiel) Sobotka.
Waidner retired from work as an elementary school teacher, having served in both the public school system and private schools in Baltimore City and Baltimore County, Md. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, Del., and enjoyed walking on the Bethany boardwalk and dancing with her husband.
Waidner is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Louis F. Waidner; a daughter, Lisa Waidner and her husband, Anthony Vega, of Baton Rouge, La.; a brother, Adam Sobotka and his wife, Jean, of Plano, Texas, and their children, Wendy Burrer and Jeffrey Sobotka; and three beloved cousins, Theresa and Auggie Resch, and Bernadine Cartwright.
A private burial will be held with the family at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Dagsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association by visiting www.alz.org.
