Barbara N. Trela, 78, died April 30, 2016, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford after a battle with cancer. She was born Barbara S. Noyes on Dec. 14, 1937, to Marie and Gerald Noyes of Newburyport, Mass.
Trela moved to the Eastern Shore in 1999, retiring as a research scientist after 32 years with the Ford Motor Company. She and her husband spent four of the next five years cruising on their sailboat on the Chesapeake Bay and the Intracoastal Waterway before beginning a life of volunteering activities at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center (CBEC), Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC), Delaware Center for the Inland Bays (CIB) and Mended Hearts, Chapter 221.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Trela; her children, Walter Juterbock of Dearborn, Mich., Wendy Hope of Lake Orion, Mich., and Jeff Juterbock of Canton, Mich.; three stepchildren; and 11 loving grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a future date, in Michigan, where her family still lives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at CBEC; P.O.
