Joseph Jude ‘Joe’ Cashmareck, 72

Joseph Jude “Joe” Cashmareck, 72, of Rehoboth Beach, Del., passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on the evening of April 17, 2016. He was born in Shamokin, Pa., on Aug. 22, 1943, son of the late Stanley Cashmareck and Hilda (Tretter) Cashmareck.

Cashmareck graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Shamokin, Pa., where he played football. He studied business and accounting at Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Del. Throughout his life, Cashmareck was a self-employed contractor, serving both the Pennsylvania and Delaware areas. His work was his passion and allowed him to help people who were in need. He finally retired in 2013.

In 1987, Cashmareck and his family relocated to Rehoboth Beach to enjoy a slower pace of life. As an avid sports fan, he loved going to all sporting events, especially to his grandchildren’s games. He was a football enthusiast and a lover of all animals. Cashmareck will be remembered for his caring heart and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Cashmareck is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Catherine “Mitzi” (Matzura) Cashmareck; a son, Christopher Cashmareck and his wife, Debbie, of Kingwood, Texas; a daughter, Laurie Ann Driskill of Rehoboth Beach; six grandchildren, Christopher Cashmareck Jr., William Cashmareck and his wife, Dawn, Amanda Cashmareck, Michael Cashmareck, Catherine Driskill and Alec Driskill; a great-granddaughter, Campbell Jane; a sister-in-law, Theresa Matzura Berry, and her husband, Dr. Theodore; and a brother-in-law, Robert Matzura and his wife, Delores.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, Del., where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment is to be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, Del.
