Hannah Catherine Houston, 95, of Frankford, Del., passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 15, 1922, in Waltham, Mass., a daughter of the late Clarence Bent and Myrtle (Moorehouse) Bent.
Houston will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who took pride in raising her family. She loved caring for her roses and traveling in the motorhome alongside her husband, Charles. In addition to traveling, she enjoyed bowling, playing cards, boating, going to the beach and attending the Little League Softball World Series.
Houston is survived by her children, Bruce Bent and his wife, Margaret, of Selbyville, Del., Colleen Winterbottom, also of Selbyville, Carey Steen and her husband, E.J., of Dagsboro, Del., Elizabeth Baxley and her husband, Clint, of Tequesta, Fla., and Dawn Hudson of Frankford; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Heilgman of Lake Winnipesaukee, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Houston was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bell Houston Jr., in 1987; a daughter, Roxie Brown; and a brother, Clarence Bent Jr.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Roxana (Del.) Cemetery. The Rev. Barry Townsend will officiate.
