Dorothy “Dottie” (Eastham) Eakins, 69, of Bethany Beach/Ocean View, Del., lost her very short battle with cancer on Jan. 13, 2018. She was born July 1, 1948, in Wiesbaden, Germany, to Eleanor Anna “Ella” Bohland Eastham, who passed away when Eakins was 12. She was raised by her dad and mom, Joe W. Eastham and Brigitte Eastham.
Eakins was a 1966 graduate of Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas. Very shortly before her death, she met and married William “Bill” Massey from Delaware.
In addition to her mother, Eakins was also preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 30 years, William Eakins; her father, Joe W. Eastham; and a brother, Joe W. Eastham Jr. She is survived by her mom, Brigitte; sisters, Deborah Eastham Wade and her husband, Larry, and Lori Eastham Allen and her husband, Philip; brothers Philipp Eastham, and Randy Eastham and his spouse, Dale; her stepchildren, Brad Eakins and Kristen Eakins Reece, and the German family of Gerd and Helga Bohland; her beloved baby girl, Abby the Yorkie; a huge family of nieces and nephews; and innumerable friends all over the world.
This world has lost a beautiful soul, but heaven has gained a bright and shining star. “Dottie, we love you and miss you so much.”
There was no service or memorial scheduled in Delaware, but her Texas family planned to hold a celebration of life at a future date, with the location to be announced.
