William D. “Bill” McCabe, 81, of Omar, Del., passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018. He was born at home in Roxana, Del., on Sept. 11, 1936, to the late Merrill McCabe and Evelyn McCabe Lynch.
McCabe attended the Selbyville School and graduated in 1954. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He attended basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C., and the remainder of his tour of duty was spent at Schofield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii.
McCabe married the love of his life, Martha Evans, on July 20, 1962, and celebrated almost 52 years of marriage before she passed away on July 1, 2014.
He was employed in the agricultural industry and retired from Tyson Foods. McCabe cherished lifelong friendships from his life and work. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He also cherished his family at Roxana Zion United Methodist Church, of which he was a member.
McCabe is survived by his son William Kevin McCabe and his wife, Melinda, of Frankford, Del.; a daughter, Kimberly Davidson, and her husband, Craig, also of Frankford; his son Keith M. McCabe and his wife, Ellen Lorraine, of Millsboro, Del.; his grandchildren Will McCabe, Nate McCabe, Hillary Haines, Elizabeth Davidson and Kylie McCabe; and his siblings, Odetta Bennett and Gloria Windham.
A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Melson Funeral Services, Frankford, Del., where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Roxana (Del.) Cemetery.
