Sharon Sue (Compton) Wineberg, 75, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Jan. 3, 2018. She was born Oct. 21, 1942, in Canton, Ohio, to Lewis and Caroline Compton. She grew up in Punxsutawney, Pa., and was a 1960 graduate of Punxsutawney High School and a 1966 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
A resident of Newark, Del., since 1967, Wineberg taught English in the Colonial School District for more than 25 years. Well-loved and respected by her colleagues, she chaired the English Department at Gunning Bedford Middle School for many years. She also taught English at James H. Groves Adult High School in Newark, from which she derived much satisfaction.
An avid reader, she was smart, sensitive, caring and fun to be with. She will be missed.
Wineberg is survived by two sons, Matthew, and John and his wife, Alexa; a daughter, Susan, and her husband, Shane; and a grandson.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
