William Robert “Bill” Yantz, 67, peacefully passed away in his home, while surrounded by his loved ones, on June 13, 2016.
Yantz grew up in Bucks County, Pa., and graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1966. While growing up, his passion for scouting and the outdoors ultimately led to him earning the rank of Eagle Scout.
After high school, Yantz continued his education at Loch Haven University. While earning a degree in education, he became the president and one of the founding members of Phi Mu Delta at the Lock Haven Chapter. His love for teaching returned him to the Pennsbury School District, where he taught for 32 years. During his tenure there, he furthered his own education by earning a master’s degree in education, as well as a doctor’s equivalency.
In his personal life, he was an active 32nd Degree Mason, in addition to continuing his scouting as an assistant scoutmaster. During his favorite time of the year, Yantz spread the Christmas cheer through being one of Santa’s helpers. In the warmer seasons, he would frequently go fishing.
Yantz is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Catherine S. Yantz; his two children, Julie M. Symer and William R. Yantz Jr. It filled him with pride to see his daughter be married to Andrew Symer and his son be married to Jacqueline D. Lindstrom. He was joyous to see his grandchildren, Evelyn G. Symer and William P. Symer, be born.
A memorial service was scheduled for June 18, 2016, at Ocean View Presbyterian Church in Ocean View, Del.
