Edward L. Shegogue, 83, of Millsboro, Del., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the Delaware Hospice Center. He was born Sept. 24, 1932, in Oxon Hill, Md., to the late Edward H. and Alice M. Earle Shegogue.
Shegogue was a member of the Eastern Shore Community Church of God in Georgetown, Del. He spent a career in the U.S. Army, retiring as a platoon sergeant, and became a member of the 793 Military Police Association, a life member of the 11th Armed Cavalry Regiment, and Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia. He was a member of the VFW Post 2931 of Georgetown/Ellendale, Vietnam Veterans Association Post 546 of Sussex County, the Disabled Veterans Post 7 and the American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro.
In addition to his parents, Shegogue was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, in 2015, and three brothers, James, Arthur and George Clifton Shegogue. He is survived by a daughter, Diana L. Shegogue-Damron and her husband, Steve, of Dover, Del.; a son, Edward R. Shegogue and his wife, Darlene, of Mechanicsville, Va.; a stepson, Michael Darden Eure and his wife, Laurie, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; a step-daughter, Gloria Faye McCabe of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Earl Shegogue; a sister, Helen Fullerton; three grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, military brothers and sisters; and his comrades-in-arms.
A funeral service was scheduled for June 17, 2016, at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, Del. Interment with military honors was to follow, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
