Joseph P. Touchton, 73, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Wilmington, Del., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at his home. He was born in Wilmington on Oct. 26, 1943, son of the late Franklin J. Touchton Sr. and Anna Elizabeth (Oliver) Touchton.
Touchton proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired as an operating engineer with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #542 in Wilmington after more than 36 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post #28 in Millsboro, Del., and AMVETS Post #2 in Long Neck, Del. He was also a member of Franklin Lodge No.12 A.F. & A.M. in Georgetown, Del., and a lifetime member of Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad in Millsboro, Del.
Touchton was preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Bob” Touchton. He is survived by a son, Joseph “Joey” P. Touchton and his wife, Ashley; a granddaughter, Abigail Touchton; a brother, Frank Touchton, and Kim Maher, of Millsboro; two nieces, Shannon Walsh and her husband, Jim, of Gorham, Maine, and Alison Wilt and her husband, Andrew, of Dover, Del.; a nephew, Robert Touchton Jr. of York, Pa; his lifelong friend, Georgeann Touchton of Georgetown, Del.; and his great-nieces and -nephews.
The family thanked Sandy Wilson and her staff for the great care and friendship they provided.
