Constance Assunta “Connie” Lalli, 73, of Frankford, Del., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016. She was born July 9, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pa., a daughter of the late Joseph A. Lalli and Constance Cedrone Lalli. She grew up in the suburbs of Philly and was a proud graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls.
Lalli enjoyed traveling and lived in several states, but her heart was still in Nassau, Bahamas, where she owned a business until the nation became independent in 1973. She came back to family in South Philly and worked at the Philadelphia Naval Yard, where she became active with wounded military veterans from the Vietnam War.
In 1995, she discovered Millville, Del. It reminded her of her second home in Atlantic City, N.J. She moved to Millville, opened K.C.’s Dollar Store and became active in the community and church. Lalli was treasurer of the American Legion of Dagsboro, and cashier, treasurer and manager of ACTS in Clarksville.
Lalli is survived by two sons, David Valentino and his wife, Jennifer, of Levittown, Pa., and John Valentino and his wife, Donna, of Long Island, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Victoria Valentino of Long Island; two nieces, Janice DiJoseph, and Lisa DiSalvia and her husband, John; a great-niece, Ricchina DiJoseph; three great-nephews, John, Louis and Michael DiSalvia of Philadelphia; and her “adopted” daughter, Laura Pearl of Levittown, Pa.
A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for Dec. 17, 2016, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Bethany Beach, Del. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project; P.O. Box 758516; Topeka, KS 66675. Condolences may be sent online at www.melsonfuneralservices.com.
