Douglas J. Davis, 62,

Douglas Jerome Davis, 62, of Milford, Del., passed away unexpectedly at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital on Aug. 27, 2016. He was born in North Hampton County, Va., on Nov. 13, 1953, to the late John Heath and Elizabeth Davis.

Davis led an interesting life as a counselor for the Department of Corrections in Delaware and had previously served as a probation and parole officer. He was a member of Kingdom Empowerment Christian Church in Seaford, Del. He served as a board member of Slaughter Neck Community Center, Coverdale Community Center and Pinetown Community Center. He spent his life as a mentor, tutor, counselor and judge of kung fu contests.

Davis is survived by his children, Lavenia Suarez and her husband, LaMar, of Millsboro, Del., Darius Davis of Millsboro; and Tyraa Felton and her husband, Joseph, of Milford; three sisters, Cynthia Epps and her husband, Edward, of Oakland, Calif., Janet M. Davis of Milton and Stacey Walker and her husband, Damon, of Frederica, Del.; two brothers, Floyd G. Davis of Georgetown, Del., and Manuel Davis of Milton; nine grandchildren; his special friend, Matilda Santos of Wilmington, Del.; a goddaughter, Wanda Hicks of Felton, Del.; and a godson, Dhasan Muhammad.

Visitation was scheduled for Sept. 2, 2016, at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, Del. A funeral service and celebration of Davis’ life was to follow on Sept. 3, 2016, at Calvary United Methodist Church, Milford, Del., with the Rev. Mason McGill officiating. Interment was to follow, in Milford Community Cemetery. Flowers were being accepted, as well as memorial contributions to the Ronald McDonald House.
