Francis Adam “Fran” “Zab” Zaborowski, 71, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at home. Born in Wilmington, Del., he was the son of Walter Zaborowski and Helen (Roslan) Zaborowski.
Zaborowski grew up in Wilmington and graduated from Salesianum High School in 1964. He began his military career when he enlisted in the Delaware Army National Guard in 1965. After basic training and advanced individual training, he worked on UH-1 helicopters and later reached the position of aircraft quality-control inspector in the 198th Aviation Company. He rose through the ranks and was promoted to first-sergeant, B Company 1, 150th Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB), in 1981.
Zaborowski retired in 2006 and was inducted into the NCO Hall of Fame in 2014. His many awards and accomplishments are representative of the dedicated soldier he was. His strong work ethic and willingness to help others were beyond compare.
A devoted dad and “PopPop,” his favorite times were spent with his family and friends. With a passion for fishing, he loved nothing more than a day on the beach with his grandchildren, sharing his enjoyment of the sport. He also had many other hobbies, along with being a talented woodworker.
In addition to his parents, Zaborowski was preceded in death by his sister, Christine Zaborowski. He is survived by his wife Dee (Snedeker) Zaborowski; four children, Fran Zaborowski, Devon Fretz, Danny Zaborowski and Dana Pinder; eight grandchildren, Cal, Jenna, Jordon, Nolan, Janna, Kiley, Colin and Logan; and a great-grandchild, Melody. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Del. Condolences may be sent online at www.melsonfuneralservices.com.
