Dennis S.P. Fletcher Sr., 51, of Georgetown, Del., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at his home. He was born Aug. 25, 1965, in Upper Darby, Pa., to the late David Fletcher and Eileen (Proth) Operseck.
Fletcher was a graduate of the Lower Cape May Regional High School in Cape May, N.J., in the Class of 1983. He worked as an industrial mechanic for 20 years at Sea Watch International and also owned his own landscaping business, B&D Lawn Care, in Georgetown, Del. He was an avid fisherman, practical-jokester and a Cowboys football fan.
Fletcher is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Mary Kathleen “Kitty” (Pond) Fletcher; his mother, Eileen Operseck of Seaford, Del.; his stepmom, Dorothy Fletcher of Villas, N.J.; three children, Christina Gardner and her husband, Steven, of Harrisburg, Pa., Rachel Horan of Milford, Del., and Dennis S. Fletcher Jr. of Georgetown; two stepchildren, Heather Marshall and Jasmine Marvel, both of Georgetown; his mother-in-law, Darlene Hockman of Georgetown; nine grandchildren, Aubrey Wiegman, Lyla Fletcher, Mykayla Vanvorst, Dennis S. Fletcher III, Brianna Vanvorst, Sophie Marvel, Noah Gardner, Ryder Marvel and Olivia Vanvorst; four siblings, Debbie Swartz of Lewes, Del., Denise Rix of Athol, Mass., David Fletcher Jr. of Cape May, N.J., and Eileen Slone of Florida; and a sister-in-law, Janet Reed of Timberville, Va.
A celebration of Fletcher’s life was scheduled for Aug. 26, 2017, at the Long Neck chapel of Melson Funeral Services in Millsboro, Del. Interment was to be private.
