Wayne A. Fuller, 84

Wayne A. Fuller, 84, of Seaford, Del., and formerly of Bethany Beach, Del., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017. He was born in Baltimore, Md., son of the late Allen K. Fuller and Helen E. Fuller.

Fuller graduated from Baltimore Polytech and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy for four years. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1961. He was a loss-control engineer for Liberty Mutual for several years in Washington, D.C., area. He then worked as loss-control manager for Maryland Casualty Insurance Company’s Kensington office. Later, he transferred to the new office for Zurich Insurance in the Baltimore area.

While in the D.C. area, Fuller became president of the American Society of Safety Engineers for the D.C./Virginia area for one year. In 1993, he retired from Zurich Insurance Co. and moved to the family’s new home in Bethany Beach, Del. At that time, he joined the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company, and he was honored as Life Member in 2013. He also served in several capacities, including fire policeman for more than 15 years. Fuller also served on several Town of Bethany Beach committees, then served as a town councilman for 10 years.

Fuller was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Lou Appel and Nancy McDade. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue; his daughters, Marcia Fuller-Fenlon and her husband, Gregory, and Lisa Longeiret and her husband, Francois; five grandsons; Christopher and his wife, Katie, Andrew, Pierre, Samuel and Marc; two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Nolan; his nieces and their husbands; his nephews and cousins; and sisters-in-law, Jean Snyder, and Beverly Reinhardt and her husband, Bob.

Memorial services will be on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial donations be made to the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Co.; 215 Hollywood St.; Bethany Beach, DE 19930.
