Hunter L. Spillan, 90, of Dagsboro, Del., formerly of Annandale, Va., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. He was born in Lexington, Va., on Oct. 9, 1926, son of the late Thomas Spillan and Frances (Wilhelm) Spillan. Spillan proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He worked on Capitol Hill with the Committee on Appropriations of the U.S. House of Representatives and as staff director of the Energy & Water Development Subcommittee. He retired from public service in 1994 when he moved to Delaware. He enjoyed watching sports and western movies.
Spillan is survived by his wife, Constance “Connie” Marsh Spillan; a son, Kevin, and his wife, Janice; a grandson, Pete; his brothers, Fred and Robert; and his sister, Wendy.
