William Dane “Bill” Barry Sr., 66, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Feb. 18, 2017. He was born Dec. 25, 1950, in Litchfield, Ill.
He had a degree in social work from Kean University and a master’s degree from Fordham University. Prior to his retirement in 2014, Barry dedicated his career to mental health advocacy as a licensed clinical social worker and behavioral healthcare administrator at Care Plus Bergen County and Oaks Behavioral Healthcare Services in New Jersey.
Barry was an avid traveler and spent many summers with his family traveling the national parks system. He was happiest with his family and friends around him and a glass of red wine in his hand. He will be remembered for his quick wit, easy laugh and generous heart.
Barry’s true calling was as beloved husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Connie (Iannicelli) Barry; his children, Bill Barry Jr. and his fiancée, Erin Howard, and Katie Barry; a large and loving family, including his brother, Jim Barry and his wife, Martha; his sisters-in-law, Domenica Best and her husband, Ed, and Maryann Britton and her husband, Lee; his brother-in-law, Tony Iannicelli and his wife, Connie; his nieces, Danielle and Jessica Britton; his nephews, Craig Barry, and Matt Barry and his wife, Amie; and his great-niece and -nephew, Paige and Cameron Barry.
No services were planned at this time, and cremation was to be private. The family asked that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
