Neil W. Cooley, 90, passed away peacefully on Jan. 24, 2017, at Atlantic Shores Rehabilitation Center in Millsboro, Del.
Born in Washington, D.C., he graduated from Roosevelt Senior High, served in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater, married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou Mainhall, and was a manager for both the Hecht Co. and Hechinger’s before retiring to Delaware.
Cooley is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Lou (Mainhall) Cooley, and their children, Tom Cooley and his wife, Betsey, Debbie McNally and her husband, Michael, Patti Brittingham and her husband, Ron, and Jim Cooley and his wife, Gail; 15 grandchildren and their spouses; and 26 great-grandchildren.
A viewing and a Mass of Christian Burial were scheduled for Jan. 30, 2017, at St. Ann Catholic Church; 691 Garfield Pkwy.; Bethany Beach, DE 19930, where memorial donations may be sent in lieu of flowers.
