John P. Brown Jr., 85, of Dagsboro, Del., passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at Christiana Hospital.
Brown was born in Delmar, Del., on July 11, 1931, to the late John P. Brown Sr. and Beulah Adkins Brown.
He worked for many years as a chicken farmer and later retired from M&T Bank, where he worked in the mailroom. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, camping with his family and listening to country music. He had a heart for animals. Brown was a mild-mannered, easygoing, honest and a very family-oriented man. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and brother and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Brown was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Brown, in 2004 and a sister, Elsie Moore.
He is survived by three children, Linda Cooper and her husband, Mitch, of Georgetown, Del.; Michael P. Brown and his wife, Andrea, of Frankford, Del., and Edward L. Brown and his wife, Donna of Dagsboro, Del.; as well as a sister, Edna Melvin and her husband, Bill, of Delmar, Del.; six grandchildren, Timothy, Pam, Kim, Sarah, Jonathan and Michael; eight great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Ruby Mason.
A graveside service was scheduled for Oct. 28, 2016, at the Millsboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Delaware SPCA; 22918 DuPont Blvd; Georgetown, DE 19947.
