John Clifton Lathbury, 60, of Georgetown, Del., passed away suddenly on March 27, 2016. He was born Sept. 17, 1955, to John Frank Lathbury and the late Joyce Ann Lathbury in Salisbury, Md.
He was a retired poultry farmer who always brightened people’s day, was very funny and was a delight to be around. Lathbury completely loved his kids and served as a family “taxi driver” for anyone needing a ride. He was dependable enough to help anyone in the family. He loved animals and his beloved cat Tom-Tom.
In addition to his father, Lathbury is survived by his wife, Gayle; seven stepchildren, David Richter, Dennis Phillips, Christopher Layfield, James Wright, Chester Wright Jr., Charles Wright and Martha Johnson; his siblings, Belinda Pusey and her husband, James, of Laurel, Del., Carol Givens and her husband, Gary, of Millsboro, Del., David Lathbury and his wife, Paula, of Ellendale, Del., James Lathbury of Ellendale and Mike Lathbury of Dagsboro, Del.; numerous grandchildren, an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 4 p.m. at Cupola Park in Millsboro, Del. Interment arrangements were private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions to either the American Heart Association or to the Ronald McDonald House, because of his great love for kids.
