Marguerite E. “Peggy” (Engeberg) Hudson, 93, of Georgetown, Del., passed away Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 14, 1923, the daughter of the late Clarance Engeberg and Martha (English) Engeberg.
Hudson earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Delaware, thus beginning a long career as an elementary and high school teacher in Georgetown schools. She enjoyed traveling, reading and playing bridge, as well as swimming and going to the beach. She was a Daughter of the American Revolution and an avid supporter of the Georgetown Public Library. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Georgetown.
In addition to her parents, Hudson was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, William R. Hudson Sr., and her brother, Richard Engeberg Sr. She is survived by her sons, William R. Hudson II and his wife, Bonita, of Millsboro, Del., and Robin Reed Hudson and his wife, Linda, of Milford, Del.; her grandson, James J. Hudson, and his wife, Darby, of Milton, Del.; her great-grandchildren, Aidan and Grace Hudson of Milton; and her nephews, Richard A. Engeberg Jr. and his wife, Sandy, and Rick Engeberg and his wife, Melissa, all of Pittsburgh, Pa.
A visitation was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, with funeral service and interment on Aug. 17, 2016, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church’s Union Cemetery, both in Georgetown, Del.
