Clinton M. ‘Monty’ Misdom, 83

Clinton M. “Monty” Misdom, 83, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Mifflintown, Pa., Waynesboro, Pa., and Carteret, N.J., passed away on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. He was born in Rahway, N.J., on June 29, 1933, son of the late Clinton Montaque Misdom and Vivian Kingdom (Price) Misdom.

Misdom was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a firefighter for several years in Carteret before opening his own sporting goods store. He owned and operated Trojan Sports Center in Waynesboro and also had a store in Mifflintown, Pa., called Hunter’s Discount Outlet. After moving to Delaware in the late 1980s, he became a charter boat captain from 1986 to 1993, with his last boat called the Shamrock, out of the Indian River Inlet.

Misdom was a member of the Theodore Roosevelt Lodge No. 219 F&AM Masonic Lodge in Carteret and a member of American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating.

In addition to his parents, Misdom was preceded in death by a son, Mark Misdom, in 1976. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Anne (Drysdale) Misdom; a daughter, Lauren Englar, and her husband, Todd, of Sabillasville, Md.; a sister, Brenda Farnham of Carteret; and four grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Steven and Krisstina Englar.

A Masonic service, military honors and interment were scheduled for Aug. 11, 2016, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Del.
