John Lyndon Jones, 52, of Frankford, Del., formerly of Rising Sun, Md., passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del., following a short but courageous battle with brain cancer. Jones was born in Jennersville, Pa., on June 20, 1964, son of Fred S. Jones and Doris (Montgomery) Jones.
Jones was a 1982 graduate of Rising Sun High School and received his bachelor’s degree in communication arts from Salisbury State College in 1986. At the time of his death, Jones was employed as a supervisor with Utiliquest.
Jones was a former member of the Cecil County Hounds & Sportsman’s Club, former vice president of the Cecil Soccer League and former member of the Lions Club in Rising Sun. He was instrumental in the building of the two Cecil Soccer League complexes through his volunteer work, and was also a Little League coach, umpire and Cecil Soccer coach.
Jones was an avid Baltimore sports fan, cheering for the Ravens, Orioles and even the Delmarva Shorebirds. He was a faithful member of the Janes United Methodist Church in Rising Sun and Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church in Ocean View, Del. He was an outdoors enthusiast, and enjoyed camping, gaming with his son and collecting 1980s toys and games.
Jones will be remembered as loving husband, father, son, brother and friend who left this world too soon.
In addition to his parents, Fred and Doris Jones of Rising Sun, he is survived by his loving wife of almost 29 years, Susan (Uhlan) Jones; three children, Elizabeth Anne Jones of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jennifer Lynn Jones of Grapevine, Texas, and Garrett Andrew Jones of Frankford, Del.; a brother, David Michael Jones and his wife, Lauren, of Oxnard, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Ann Endo of Annapolis, Md., and Kathleen Elizabeth Miller and her husband, Wayne, of Elkridge, Md.; and his father and mother-in-law, Dr. Eugene A. Uhlan and his wife, Mary Ann, of Concord, N.C.
A visitation was scheduled for July 8, 2016, at Melson Funeral Services in Ocean View, Del. Services were to be held July 9, 2016, at Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church in Ocean View, Del., with interment in the adjoining cemetery.
